Surely as a teenager there's nothing I'd rather do. I need to get my kids working in the yard more - pass on the abuse.KanyonKrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01954169751206336705noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7052859668960609943.post-39576286779215577222008-07-18T20:48:00.001-05:002008-07-18T20:48:00.001-05:00We didn't actually hit butterflies with tennis rac...We didn't actually hit butterflies with tennis rackets, it was moths. Only moths.

What's the difference between a butterfly and a moth? For a gardener, the first pollinates flowers, the second eats holes in leaves.

...

And you're right about the log-splitter. That was thoughtful. Though I do recall spending a lot of quality time with 12lb (orange) and 6lb (gray) mauls and a sledgehammer. So I we must not have done everything with the log-splitter...but it was nice when we had it.goathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05561013052425473687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7052859668960609943.post-87316597738032740932008-07-18T20:48:00.000-05:002008-07-18T20:48:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.vfghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16858616105228539309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7052859668960609943.post-30634958607702225102008-07-18T17:03:00.000-05:002008-07-18T17:03:00.000-05:00At least you had a rented log splitter. I feel my back twinge at just the thought of it.mrsmithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10698733122149400656noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7052859668960609943.post-46738189446533286882008-07-18T11:28:00.000-05:002008-07-18T11:28:00.000-05:00Last night I was telling the kids about how we'd s...Last night I was telling the kids about how we'd sell vegetables from your garden at the end of the street. Surely you pocketed a bit of $ from that enterprise? Same with picking raspberries - you made good money if I remember correctly. Of course, you didn't come into true riches until you took over the paper route but still, all that hard labor on the homefront wasn't without some compensation. Heck, just being able to shoot the birds that would get caught under the netting your dad spread over the fruit trees with our bb guns made it all worthwhile. Or irrigating the garden - how fun was that? Hitting butterflies with tennis rackets in the cabbage patch? Oh man, talk about sweet memories!UtRiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16196214593560383672noreply@blogger.com
